EXIT, with 3 B Iden Payne Awards!

EXIT PURSUED BY A BEAR was shown a lot of love at the 38th Annual B Iden Payne Awards walking away with 3 major awards including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy, and Outstanding Production of a Comedy.  Joey Hood took home top acting honors in a comedy last night winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy for his role as the duct-taped antagonist of EXIT.  He also took home Outstanding Featured Actor in a Drama for his role in Hyde Park Theatre’s smash hit THE ALIENS.  His fellow actor Molly Karrasch later graced the stage to accept her award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy for her portrayal of the Sweet, Jimmy Carter-loving Nan from EXIT.  This was Molly’s first nomination and her first B Iden Payne award.   At the end of the ceremony EXIT, PURSUED BY A BEAR was given the highest honor of being named Outstanding Production of a Comedy for the 2011-2012 season in Austin.

Several artists who are currently involved in THE PAIN AND THE ITCH were also recognized for their works with other companies.  Cap T regular Kenneth Wayne Bradley won his first B Iden Payne Award for his role as Taggart in Street Corner Arts’ production of THE MEN OF TORTUGA.  Ken plays the role of Cash in THE PAIN AND THE ITCH.  Our costumer Glenda Barnes won Outstanding Costume Design for Doctuh Mistah’s production of BLOODY, BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON.  Patrick Anthony who designed lights for both EXIT PURSUED BY A BEAR and THE PAIN AND THE ITCH won Outstanding Lighting Design for his design of BIG LOVE for Shrewd Productions.
