KILLER JOE nominated for Best Comedy by Austin Critics Table Awards
Killer Joe nabbed two nominations from the Austin Critics Table Awards on Thursday, rounding out the entire awards season. Cap T’s production of Tracy Letts’ comic thriller earned a nomination for Best Production of a Comedy, while its director, Mark Pickell, was nominated for Best Direction. Joey Hood, who played Chris in KILLER JOE, was nominated for Best Lead Actor for his solo performance in Hyde Park Theatre’s THE ATHEIST.
The awards winners will be announced Monday, June 7, 7pm, at Cap City Comedy Club, 8120 Research. The public is welcome and admission is free.
Killer Joe was also nominated for 6 B Iden Payne Awards including Outstanding Production of a Comedy. It won 2 of those awards for Outstanding Direction (Mark Pickell) and Outstanding Fight Choreographer (Travis Dean). It was also included in the top 9 of 2009 list in the Austin Chronicle. KJ was also nominated for 7 Austin Theatre Examiner awards winning 3 awards including Best Production of a Comedy. Mark Pickell also recognized with an Austin Live Theatre Applause Award for his direction of KILLER JOE.
