Meet the cast of DETROIT

We are proud to announce our amazing cast for DETROIT.  The cast features some of Austin’s best actors that are familiar to Cap T audiences.  Jason Phelps returns after his amazing job in Mickle Maher’s THERE IS A HAPPINESS THAT MORNING IS.  Rebecca Robinson returns to Hyde Park after appearing in GIDION’S KNOT last February for Cap T.  Joey Hood is no stranger to Cap T either, he has appeared in KILLER JOE, BUG, A LIE OF THE MIND, and EXIT PURSUED BY A BEAR.  Austin newcomer Rebecca Pearcy had a quick turnaround after just appearing in PUNKPLAY a month ago.

 

Ben – Jason Phelps

Jason Phelps is a multi-disciplinary artist who has been making theatre for over 25 years. In the 90’s he co-founded Frontera@Hyde Park Theatre and performed in too many plays to list. In 2013, he performed in THERE IS A HAPPINESS THAT MORNING IS produced by CAPITAL T. He has also performed with the Rude Mechs (LIPSTICK TRACES US tour), Salvage Vanguard (TILT ANGEL), MS Nerve Dance Co, and Zach Scott (ANGELS IN AMERICA & SPRING AWAKENING). His solo dance theatre work has been seen in Chicago, Boston, Seattle, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and in Austin at FUSEBOX. He recently completed a 2 year gig touring with the INTERGALACTIC NEMESIS and has done several crazy fun voice-over jobs. He has also received 5 Best Actor Awards from the Austin Critics Table. Currently, Jason is working on a major multi-media theatre event, FEAST OF MY HEART, which will be produced in Dec. 2014 at Salvage Vanguard Theatre.


Mary- Rebecca Robinson

Rebecca Robinson returns to Capital T after having performed in SICK, HUNTER GATHERERS,  and GIDION’S KNOT.  She also appeared in Cap T’s A LIE OF THE MIND which she won a best  featured actress award from the B. Iden Payne Awards. Recently, she appeared as ‘Margie’ in the Different Stages’ production of GOOD PEOPLE. Rebecca is a company member of Hyde Park Theatre and her credits over the past two years include Hyde Park Theatre’s production of MIDDLETOWN, Austin Playhouse’s production of ROOM WITH A VIEW, Doctah Mistah’s production of BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON and Tutto Theatre Company’s TWELFTH LABOR. Other notable productions include Hyde Park Theatre’s CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION, Different Stages’ NIGHT OF THE IGUANA, and the role of the volatile Stevie in Edward Albee’s THE GOAT OR WHO IS SYLVIA?


Kenny – Joey Hood

This is Joey’s fifth appearance with Capital T Theatre.  He has appeared in EXIT, PURSUED BY A BEAR, and A LIE OF THE MIND.  He also appeared for Cap T in both KILLER JOE  and BUG (Austin Critics Table Nomination Best Actor in a Leading Role) .   He was most recently seen in Zach Scott’s production of DIVIDING THE ESTATE.  Other Credits  include THE ALIENS (Austin Critics Table Nomination Best Supporting Actor),  THE ATHEIST (Austin Critics Table Best Actor Award), FLYING, ZOO STORY. THE COLLECTION, BOMBS IN YOUR MOUTH , HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ASSASINATED?, THE WATER PRINCIPLE, THE GLORY OF LIVING (Austin Critics Table Nomination Best Actor) TWIGHLIGHT: LOS ANGELES, 1992(Austin Critics Table Nomination Best Supporting Actor) THE METAMORPHISIS  (B Iden Payne Nomination Best Actor) BLUR (B Iden Payne Nomination Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy), Fish (B Iden Payne Nomination) and STADIUM DEVILDARE. Joey is originally from South Mississippi and has been treading Austin stages since 1997.  Joey is also Hyde Park Theatre core company member.


Sharon – Rebecca Pearcy

Rebecca graduated from the Rose Bruford Drama School in England where she achieved a BA in American Theatre. She has appeared as Reagan/ Ines in PUNK PLAY (Capital T Theater), Charlie in CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY, Crystal in THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, Telephone Girl in MACHINAL (The Rose Theatre), Esmeralda in CAMINO REAL (The Barn Theatre), A MUSICAL CABARET ( London Palladium)  The Court Theatres New Writing Program (Soho Theatre), Thomasina in ARCADIA (AGL), Chris Gorman in RUMORS (Legacy Theater), Pattie in ONE DAY MORE (Legacy Theater), a member of the Tarawa Terrace Murder Mystery Series in North Carolina, THE TEMPEST (SFA) and co-directed THE LARAMIE PROJECT which was then performed in England. She has appeared in the films HOT AIR, THE BRANNIGAN ACCOUNT, GET UP, THEY HAD IT COMING, THE OMEGA PROJECT, DALE ARCHDALE and THE HOLLOW OAK. She was a presenter of THE LEXINGTON TOUR GUIDE SERIES and appeared in the TV show FROM DUSK TIL DAWN. She worked as the Director of Development and Assistant to the Artistic Director for the Actors Guild of Lexington.


Frank – Tom Green

This is Tom’s first appearance with Capital T. He was last seen as Joe in PORT AUTHORITY with Hyde Park Theatre. Other Austin credits include roles in FIXING KING JOHN (The Rude Mechanicals), HIT, A STEADY RAIN (Best Play 2013, Austin Lifestyle Magazine), GLENGARRY GLENN ROSS, and PARADISE KEY (a chick and a dude), THE GRAPES OF WRATH, THE CLEAN HOUSE, TAKE ME OUT, THE EXONERATED, and KEEPIN’ IT WEIRD (Zach Scott).
