Meet the cast of YEAR OF THE ROOSTER

Odysseus Rex – Jason Liebrecht

This is Jason’s second production with Capital T at HPT where he was last seen as Padraic in THE LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE. He has been developing work and performing with Austin’s Rude Mechs since 1999; recently as King John in FIXING KING JOHN, Captain Fendist in NOW NOW OH NOW, and as the Magnate in STOP HITTING YOURSELF as part of Lincoln Center’s LCT3 program. Other Off-Broadway credits include, Johnny Rotten in LIPSTICK TRACES (Rude Mechs/Foundry), Jerry in Steve Earle’s KARLA (Culture Project), and “Hops” in THE METHOD GUN (Rude Mechs/DTW). Film/TV credits include:  David Byrne’s TRUE STORIES, Richard Linklater’s WAKING LIFE, and John Ridley’s AMERICAN CRIME.

Dickie Thimble – Kenneth Wayne Bradley

This marks Ken’s fifth collaboration with Cap T, including performances in KILLER JOE, BUG, HUNTER GATHERERS, and THE PAIN AND THE ITCH. Some of Ken’s more recent stage performances include THE KING OF TEXAS for Frontera Fest as Sam Houston, Claudius in HAMLET at The Mary Moody Northen Theatre, and A STEADY RAIN for a chick & a dude productions as Denny. In MEN OF TORTUGA for Street Corner Arts, he was honored with the B. Iden Payne Award for his performance as Taggart. He also appeared as Ariel for Hyde Park Theatre in THE PILLOWMAN, which earned him an Austin Critics’ Table Award. He originated the character Abner in his one man show entitled WICKER CHAIRS and also penned WIND CHIMES AND VARICOSE CREAM, which was published in the Texas Theatre Journal. Ken has appeared on television with either featured, co-starring or recurring roles in THE LEFTOVERS (HBO), LONGMIRE (A&E/ NETFLIX), REVOLUTION (NBC), FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (NBC), DALLAS (TNT), KILLER WOMEN (ABC), CHASE (NBC), PRISON BREAK (FOX), and WALKER TEXAS RANGER. He has also been featured and co-starred in OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN with Morgan Freeman, DRIVE ANGRY 3D with Nicolas Cage, ROOM––which ran at the Sundance and Cannes film Festivals, and he will be in the upcoming features THE DOO-DAH MAN and AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE. Ken came to Austin in 1991, lives in Leander with his wife Cathy, and is a graduate of the Fine Arts program at Sam Houston State University.

Gil Pepper – Jason Newman

Jason (Gil Pepper) last performed with Cap T Theatre as ‘Doug’ in 2013’s GRUESOME PLAYGROUND INJURIES (B Iden Payne award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama). He recently returned from a UK tour of Hidden Room Theatre’s DER BERSTRAFTE BRUDERMORD, which included performances at the Globe Theatre in London, Magdalen College in Oxford, and The Shakespeare Institute in Stratford Upon Avon. Jason is a company member with Austin Playhouse, appearing last year as ‘Sherlock Holmes’ in SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE CASE OF THE JERSEY LILY. and previously in productions such as THE FOREIGNER, LAUGHTER ON THE 22nd FLOOR, and THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST.

Lou Pepper – Lana Dieterich

A veteran actor of Austin theatre for 35+ years, Lana received the 2003 Critics’ Table nod as Best Actress in a Comedy for SIXTEEN SPELLS TO CHARM A BEAST and VIGIL. She is also a four-time B. Iden Payne award winner and a company member of Hyde Park Theatre. And she was once selected by Austin Chronicle critics as Best Name to See in a Theatre Program. She has the banner to prove it. Film credits include MONSTER HUNTER, FAST FOOD NATION, TEETH, LOVERS OF HATE, DEAR SIDEWALK, and LOVE AND AIR SEX. Watch for her new feature film making the film festival rounds, SECOND IMPRESSION. This is Lana’s second time working with Capital T, having played the racist matriarch in THE PAIN AND THE ITCH in 2012.

Philipa – Julia Bauer

This is Julia’s second appearance with Capital T. She recently played the loquacious Lea in Cap T’s DNA in February. Other acting credits include Hecuba in TROJAN WOMEN (UT acting project), Jules in KARLSTAD (UT New Theatre), and Horatio in ‘RATIO (UT New theatre). She is a junior majoring in theatre at The University of Texas at Austin.
