Meet the talented pair of actors starring in Gruesome Playground Injuries

Laura Artesi – Kayleen

This is Laura’s first production with Capital T and her second in Austin, last seen as Lucius in Present Company’s JULIUS CAESAR. Recently she performed Mairead in THE LIEUTENANT OF INISHMORE with Threshold Repertory, Dotty in OUT OF STERNO, and the title role in the Piccolo Spoleto production of SYLVIA with Midtown/Sheri Grace in Charleston, SC. She was also seen as Cecile in IS HE DEAD?, Alais in THE LION IN WINTER, and Karen in BOY’S LIFE with Charleston’s Footlight Players. She graduated with a BA in Theatre from the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College in New York City – her hometown. Favorite roles there include Olivia in TWELFTH NIGHT, Cavale in COWBOY MOUTH and the title role in ANTIGONE for Theatre Sangreal, as well as Candy in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST with SI Shakespeare. Currently, she is working on a production of OTHELLO with City Theatre, opening later this February. Thanks so much to Kelsey, Mark, Jeff, and John.

Jason Newman – Doug

Jason is excited to make his Capital T debut with this production. He is a graduate of St. Edwards University (2003) where he honed his acting chops in roles such as ‘Doc’ in TRACERS, ‘Chris’ in ALL MY SONS, and ‘Dale Harding’ in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST. He has been seen most recently as William Gillette in THE GAME’S AFOOT at Austin Playhouse. Jason is a company member with Austin Playhouse and has performed in productions including The IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR, and THE LION IN WINTER. Jason is also a member of the film production company, Pepper Island Films, whose first feature film, The Man From Orlando, which he co-wrote and starred in, recently received its Austin Premiere at the State Theater.
